What is a Split System?

In a split system, half of your home comfort HVAC system is housed in a cabinet outside your house while the remaining portion housed in a cabinet inside your house. Depending on your system type, either the air conditioner or outdoor portion of the heat pump will be located on a concrete slab next to your house’s foundation. The fan coil will be contained inside your house, typically out of sight either in the basement or a closet. Refrigerant lines connect the two portions of the HVAC system. The fan coil will push the conditioned air throughout your house’s ductwork. In colder climates, your indoor system may also contain a gas furnace to provide more efficient heat. A custom-matched split system is key to maximizing the comfort level and energy savings of your home heating and cooling system.
